The Claddagh's distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown). This Irish symbol first appeared in the 17th century as a ring and has been a part of Irish and the modern Celtic cultural resurgence. In this ring the hands have been replaced by the Triquetra representing the three promises of a relationship: to love, honor, and protect. The Claddagh element on this ring is approximately 10mm from base to tip of the crown. This item will be shipped in a gift box, perfect for surprising that special someone.
