Serpentine

The term Serpentine is not used to identify a single mineral but instead it has been utilized to refer to a specific group of minerals that compose the Serpentine rock. Serpentine up until the year 2010 has been known to be the official state rock for the state of California located in the United States. It was called for removal due to the fact that Serpentine is said to contain a mineral that can be deadly known as a carcinogen or otherwise known as chrysotile asbestos. It has been linked to increase risk of mesothelioma cancer when exposed, but it is good to know that not all varieties of Serpentine carry this mineral only some. In fact, being near or handing the rock is not harmful to anyone, the only way one would be at risk is if the powered version of this stone is inhaled.

Serpentine can be found in various locations scattered around the world. It can be found in the mountain ranges of France, New Zealand, Italy, Austria, the United States, the Ural Mountains of Russia, and can even be found in Greece. Not only can Serpentine be found in various parts of the world, but it can also be found in various colors. More commonly known, Serpentine can be found in green, but it can also be found in white, yellow, brown, blue, and even a brownish red shade.

In the metaphysical world, Serpentine is said to possess the ability to clear one’s chakras. It has been believed to aid in healing energies towards one’s problem areas in life. Overall, it is said that Serpentine contains the ability to help one feel more in control of their life.
