Lazulite obtains its name from the Arabic term "lazaward" meaning heaven as well as the German word "lazurstein" which directly translates to "blue stone." This is in reference to the vibrant shade of sky blue that the stone possesses. The color of Lazulite can range from light to dark blue and occasionally it can also appear green at times. The transparency of the stone usually tends to be translucent along with an almost dull luster.

Lazulite can be found in various areas of the world such as India, Canada, Austria, Sweden, Madagascar, Brazil, and the United States of America. Lazulite belongs to the phosphate class of minerals. It is formed by high-grade metamorphism of high silica-rich rocks as well as in pegmatites.

In the metaphysical world, Lazulite is believed to show the realities of life as well as find the answers to the questions of life. It is also said to contain the ability to maintain balance, relieve tension, and provide positive energy. From a metaphysical perspective, it is said that Lazulite is best utilized for those who feel as if they were robbed of innocence at a young age of life. Lazurite stimulated the third eye chakra which is believed to have intuitive abilities.
