Don’t be misled, strongly colored semi precious stones of good size can be worth more than a diamond!  They are further classified by Mohs scale of mineral hardness-it basically measures a mineral’s hardness (or scratch resistance) on a scale of 1 to 10, talc being 1 and diamond being the hardest (most scratch resistant) at 10.
