About
Our Jade Jewelry
Derived
from the Spanish word piedra de ijada or “loin stone”, jade has been and
continues to be a worldwide favorite. Thus named because it was
traditionally used for ailments of the loins and kidneys, jade has also been
used as a means of adornment and as a material to make everyday items and even
statues for hundreds of years. While many know about Chinese jade,
jade also comes from countries like Burma, Guatemala and New Zealand and has
played a role in traditional religious rituals as well as early writings.
Something
we can all agree on though is that jade makes beautiful jewelry! Jade was
so valuable in some countries that it was revered as much as we revere diamonds
and gold in the West. It comes in varying colors- greens, purples, blues, and
white being the rarest. We carry jade earrings, jade rings, jade pendants, jade
bracelets, and jade necklaces. Jade is a gemstone that belongs in all
jewelry boxes, and we at Gem Avenue are proud to offer this jewelry staple.
