Earrings have been known to have originated from Asia and have been around for over 7000 years! Throughout time earrings have been known to be beautiful jewelry pieces used to adorn one's ear. In history, men were known to wear earrings more than women! William Shakspere was known to rock a pair of hoop earrings. Sailors were known to pierce their ears as a symbol which represented that they had completed their journey either across the equator or around the world. These sailors were also known to wear earrings composed of gold to have in case of a shipwreck and needed to pay for Christian burials. The survivors of these shipwrecks would then wear their earrings on their left earlobe. In fact, during earlier times pirates would adorn a single gold hoop with the belief it could ease their sea sickness. As time progressed, earrings have been widely adorned by mainly women with a few men keeping the history alive.

During the 20th century, earrings rapidly grew in popularity with women due to the creation of screw-back and clip earrings. Later on, this trend would then be revived during the 1960s. Thanks to a booming economy, during the 1920’s women opted for more luxurious styled earrings. During this time geometric-styled earrings, pearl stud earrings, and diamond stud earrings vastly rose in popularity quickly becoming a fashion staple still seen worn by women and men today!
